Obituary for Lois Isabel Simpson

Lois Isabel Simpson passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Minnedosa Personal Care Home. Lois, the youngest child of John and Dorothy Shand, was born April 14, 1937 in Dauphin, Manitoba. The family then moved to Rapid City where Lois received her schooling. Lois loved to travel and that was instilled in her as a young girl. Along with her older brother Don and her parents, they took many road trips together all over Canada and the United States. She still liked nothing better than going for a drive to see what might have changed in the countryside. Lois worked various jobs in Brandon while putting herself through school to become a Chartered Accountant for Myers Norris Penny, Brandon Bearing employed her, and she retired from Manitoba Child and Family Services. She also did books for other small businesses in the area including the Manitoba Bee Keepers for a number of years. Lois was very active. She loved to curl, golf, cross-country ski, camp and swim; she especially enjoyed the times she spent with her brother Don while sailing and wind surfing. She was an avid baseball and hockey fan, and when she could no longer play golf or curl, she could be found watching them both on TV. Lois had four grandchildren that she was very proud of and was very interested in their activities. Lois learned how to downhill ski so she could spend time with Melissa. She was at every hockey, football and rugby game that Matthew, T.J. and Sean played. She was on the sidelines cheering them on; she did not really understand the ins and outs of football or rugby, but that did not stop her from being their biggest cheerleader. Lois was also blessed with four great grandchildren that she adored. She was at all their family birthday parties and was always interested in what they were doing. Lois was predeceased by her parents John and Dorothy Shand and her brother Don Shand. Lois will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sheryl (Rick) Saler, son Brian (Connie) Simpson; grandchildren Melissa (Michael) Grenier, Matthew (Adrienne) Saler, T.J. Simpson and Sean Simpson; great grandchildren Evander and Aubrielle Grenier and Clara and Natalie Saler; her sister-in-law Gladys Simpson and several nieces and nephews. A private family graveside was held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 27, 2019. Donations in memory of Lois may be made to Prairie Mountain Health – Minnedosa Personal Care Home, Box 960, Minnedosa, MB R0J 1E0.
