Obituary for William Gordon "Bob" Kilpatrick

William Gordon “Bob” Kilpatrick passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Bob was born at St. Boniface Hospital on April 28, 1925. Bob was employed with the Canadian Pacific Railroad for forty-two years, working at various places in Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan, retiring in 1985. After retirement, he and Dode moved to Pleasant Valley and also enjoyed sixteen wonderful winters in Phoenix, Arizona, returning to Brandon in 2001. Bob enjoyed curling and golfing until the loss of his eyesight in 2000. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity for over 70 years, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Killarney, and a member of First Presbyterian Church. Bob was predeceased by his father Harry in 1960, his mother Janet (nee Cairns) in 1978, brother Ronald in 1954 and younger sister Joan Carter of Winnipeg in 2008. Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Doreen “Dode” (nee Orser); daughters Susan (Glen) Mattice, Beverley (Barry) More, Barbara (Bob) Smith, all of Brandon, and Carol Savory of Regina; ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; one nephew and six nieces; sister Evelyn Toy of Abbottsford, BC, and sister-in-law Norma-Jean Coates. A come and go reception in celebration of Bob’s life will take place at the Masonic Temple, 302-8th Street, Brandon on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 354-10th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4G1, the Masonic Foundation of Manitoba, 420 Corydon Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0N8 or to a charity of choice.
