Obituary for
Anneliese "Ann" Alfred
With sadness we announce the passing of Anneliese "Ann" Alfred on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Rideau Park Personal Care Home. Anneliese was born March 25, 1933 in Beesenstedt, Germany. In 1955, she immigrated to Toronto, Canada as a nanny and married in 1956. Ann had many jobs including the Shilo Mess Hall, Flying Dutchman Bakery, 7-11 and CKX. When she retired from CKX, at age 70, they gave her a trip back to Germany. Retirement never slowed Anne down, she kept busy with gardening and opened up her garden for the annual tours. Many friends and neighbours were recipients of flowers and vegetables from her garden. Accompanied by her dog Sissy they would visit the sick and elderly. At age 44 she received her driver's license and would pick up friends to go to Bingo, her other passion. Anneliese is survived by her son Lenord Alfred of North Bay, Ontario; grandson Mike Alfred of Winnipeg; granddaughter Julie Alfred of Cairo, Egypt; her daughter Christine Mann of Brandon; granddaughter Rachelle Wizniak of Brandon and grandson Daniel Mann of Brandon. Anneliese is also survived by her family in Germany: her sister Rose Marie (predeceased by her husband Fritz Berger) their daughters Doris, Roswitha, Margrit and their families and a son Albrecht Berger. Also her sister Gerda (predeceased by her husband Horst Karpuschewski) their children Cornelia, Sylvia, Detlef and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Paul and Minna (Funke) Backman. The Funeral Service took place at Memories Chapel on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Rev. Chris Arthur officiated. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
