Cremation Containers - Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre

In accordance with provincial health laws and crematorium regulations, the body must be received in a rigid container that properly holds the body to allow for proper of the body with in the cremation container.

The type of container chosen will depend on the service selection. When an identification time is requested, a family may view their loved one in a cremation container or ceremonial casket.

When a viewing or service is chosen that the deceased is present in the casket, open or closed, a ceremonial or rental casket is often selected.   A ceremonial casket is a specialized casket that appears the same as a burial casket but has a removable combustible liner in which the deceased is cremated.  The exterior shell of the casket is the only part of the casket that is reused. The handles of a ceremonial casket are also strong enough that pallbearers may carry the casket if needed.

Choosing a container is a personal decision with the look of the container to the materials used in its construction taken into consideration.

The deceased is transported to the crematorium in this container and placed in the cremation chamber on a rolling system At the completion of the cremation, the cremated remains are separated from the ashes of the cremation container and placed in the selected urn.

Many styles of urns are available, many of which can be personalized.  To learn more about urns, please click here.
