Obituary for Virginie Mlazgar

MLAZGAR: Virginie, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Virginie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Joan Yeary and grandchildren Jenilee, Matthew and Jared; son John (Betty) and grandchildren Tammy and Donnie; son Frank; son Doug (Bev); sisters Corinne and Rose, brother Rosaire, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who were all so dear to her. She was pre-deceased by her husband Frank, her parents, sisters Helen and Barb and brothers Gilbert and Victor. Virginie and Frank raised their children in the Winnipeg area and then moved to Brandon in 1972. Virginie worked at the Fort Rouge Curling Club while in Winnipeg for many years managing the cafeteria and catering for weddings and events. She and Frank were always busy attending their children’s events and enjoying the company of friends and family. Once the family moved to Brandon, she was employed with Canada Safeway for 35 years and made strong friendships with her co-workers that continued until her passing. She was an avid fan of football, hockey, curling and volunteered at various events. She was always a devoted cheerleader for her children and grandchildren. Virginie was a strong person in every way. She was very talented, and she would do anything for anyone – never asking for anything in return. She had a generous spirit no matter what! The last few months of Virginie’s life weren’t easy, but with the excellent attention given and friendships made at Valleyview Care Center and more recently, the wonderful care received on the Palliative Care unit at the hospital, she was able to take life as it came and do her best! Many thanks to Dr. Butler and Dr. Caplan as well as the amazing nurses and aides over the years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends always. A private Celebration of Virginie’s Life took place at Memories Chapel on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Donations in memory of Virginie may be made to Valleyview Care Center, Resident Council Van Fund, 3015 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba R7B 2K2.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.”
