Obituary for Milo Keith Cale

CALE: Milo Keith, age 84 years, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, October 14, 2019 surrounded by his family. Milo was born on a farm near Antler Saskatchewan to Wilf and Ethel Cale. During the Depression, the family consisting of Milo, his parents and his four brothers, moved to Brandon, Manitoba. When he was eight years old, Milo started delivering newspapers in Brandon to help his family financially. Throughout the years, he often relayed to his own children the stories of kindness shown to him by the people along his paper route. Milo schooled at Earl Haig and Brandon Collegiate Institute before moving to Alexander with his family where he completed his schooling. It was there he met Beth MacKay and became teenage sweethearts before marrying in June 1956. Milo started working at Reliance Motors in 1950. With no car or a drivers license at that time, he delivered parts on an old bike. From there, Milo moved to Brandon Auto and eventually Murray Chev Olds, where he became the Parts Manger and remained until his retirement in 1998. Milo’s greatest interest was his family and he enjoyed many other pursuits during his lifetime. In the earlier years, he was involved as a coach and manager of boys hockey and baseball. He enjoyed fishing whether it be with his family as it grew over the years or with his good friends. His meticulous ways and handyman skills saw him undertake many renovations in his own home, and the creation of a beautiful yard and garden with Beth. Following his retirement, Milo enjoyed other recreational activities including golfing with family and friends, woodworking, winemaking and growing his infamous tomatoes. Milo will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend Beth; son Randy (Cathy); and daughters Lori (Dewayne) Snider and Leanne; grandkids Drew (Laura), Dana (Brython), Ryan (Kilee), Brett (Cassidy), Macala; great grandchildren Caden and Ashton; and Janine who he considered his ‘adopted Aussie daughter’. Milo was predeceased by his parents and four brothers Rollie, Elvin, Don and Ken. Special thanks to Doctors Drachenburg, Riche and Visser for the wonderful care they provided to Milo over the years. The family will cherish his memory privately. Donations in memory of Milo may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2W8.
Milo was loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
