Obituary for Adin Bauman
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Adin Martin Bauman at Dinsdale PCH on October 1, 2019. Adin was born at Wallenstein, Ontario in 1924. He grew up on a 100 acre farm complete with chickens, pigs, cattle and horses.
Adin left the farm in 1945 and moved to Toronto for university. While there he met and married Irene Farrah, a farm girl from Leader, Saskatchewan. They were together for nearly 70 years until her passing in 2018. Together they lived in Winnipeg, Dauphin, Medicine Hat and Brandon with their 5 children.
Adin was a Social Worker in Winnipeg, Dauphin and Medicine Hat and prior to that had been a minister following university.
In 1965 the family moved from Medicine Hat to Brandon so he could teach in the Social Services program at Assiniboine Community College. The program continued until the mid 80’s after which Adin retired.
He spent many years following his retirement occupying himself with fixing fences on the farm so the cattle didn’t roam too far. He would load up his truck in the morning and head off happily in search of any fence post that needed attention. He was meticulous and the fences were never in better shape than when he was ‘on duty’.
He also enjoyed singing and playing the bells in the choirs at First Presbyterian Church in Brandon as well as in a community choir. He loved classical music and attended many symphonies.
Adin and Irene left the farm to reside in Brandon in 2005 and Adin remained in his apartment until a hospital admission in March of this year and a subsequent move to personal care.
Adin had a wonderful sense of curiosity and a genuine interest in everything and everyone. He wanted to hear your story, eagerly asking questions and listening to your answers. Once he met you and heard your story he never forgot you or the details shared.
He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed a good laugh. His laugh was a constant as he lived his life to the fullest.
Adin was a kind and compassionate person. A friend of 40 years commented recently that Adin never had a bad word to say about anyone. This speaks to the fact that he accepted people as they were.
Adin was predeceased by his wife Irene, son Harvey, daughter Linda and granddaughter Stephanie.
He leaves to cherish a wonderful legacy, his sons Vernon (Shannon) and their children Jordan (Kristen), Sarah (Matt), Landan (Alma), April (Ralph) and Joel, son Randy (Lorrie) and their daughter Jenna (Devin) and son Terry, as well as granddaughter Carrie and 8 great grandchildren, his sisters Alma and Mary and their families.
There will be a private family interment at the Souris and Glenwood Cemetery. A come and go tea for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon on Monday October 7th from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.

The goldenrod is yellow;
The corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.
The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusky pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun.
The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook;
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook.
From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies.
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather,
And autumn’s best of cheer.
