Obituary for Robert "Rob" Irvine Howard

Robert "Rob" Irvine Howard
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Irvine "Rob" Howard on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Rideau Park Personal Care Home, where he has resided for the past 18 months. Rob will be sadly missed by his sons Nicholas and Brenden of McCreary, MB; his mother Margaret of Brandon, MB; his sisters Laurie (Don) Zachanowich of Wawanesa, MB (Leslie, Jamie, Crissy) and Kelly (John) Korchinski of Duncan, BC (Shawna, Dustin, Scott) and their families; Aunt Shirley McKay of Saskatoon, SK; Uncle Dale Howard of Springfield, Oregon; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rob was predeceased by his father Robert I. "Bob" Howard in 2003 and his grandparents. Rob was born in Saskatoon on August 14, 1958 and later moved with his family to Winnipeg, Regina and Wawanesa, where he attended high school and developed his love of country life and the outdoors, which continued throughout his life. Basketball and badminton were his favourite sports, as well as snowmobiling and motorcycling. In later years his hobbies were restoring cars, snowmobiles and motorcycles in the huge garage he built on his acreage. Rob received his diploma in Applied Arts Business Administration in 1979 and was employed at Christie's School and Office Supplies and later for many years at D.W. Friesen of Altona. A heartfelt thank you to the many friends who have visited and helped out in so many ways during Rob's long illness. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Vipul, management and staff at Rideau Park Personal Care Home for their compassionate care during Rob's stay. A very special thank you to the staff who gave Rob extra loving care in his final days. Friends who so desire may make a donation in memory of Rob to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba - Westman Region, Unit 4B - 457 9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 1K2. A private family interment will take place in Saskatoon at a later date where Rob will rejoin his beloved dad, grandparents and other family members. "To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die."

Memory uses golden threads
To weave her magic spell.
And deep within the cloth of life,
My heart remembers well

Each precious moment spent with you,
The laughter and the tears,
The sunshine and the shadows, too,
The storm clouds and the fears.

What matter if the thread is broken?
It's brightness will remain
To guide me through the darkness till
The sun shines once again.
