Condolence: Like so many fellow Gunners across the country, I consider it a rare privilege to have served with CWO White. He was BSM U Battery in 1978 when I arrived in the battery as a new subaltern not long before we deployed to Cyprus. What a man! What charisma! I shall always be grateful for his guidance, example and unsurpassed sense of humour. He held the profound respect and heartfelt affection of us all. On behalf of the RCA Regimental Family, I extend our deepest condolences to the White Family. "End of Mission RSM. Excellent Shooting. Stand Easy." BGen (Ret'd) J.J. Selbie Colonel Commandant

Condolence From: Wayne Douglas (LCol Retired)
Condolence: As a young officer just off Phase 4 in Gagetown, I was posted to 3RCHA in Shilo and started my career with The Guns. Vic was the Tech Sgt and I remember several occasions after I had completed a recce or brought the guns into position Vic would wait for me to wrap up and say, "Let's take a walk, Sir." That was when he would quietly guide me through steps that would let me do it better, the next time. Vic was a great leader and mentor to all who served with him. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family. Wayne

Condolence: I was the IG on the first Level 6B course run at the school of Artillery in Shilo. Vic was a student. He was the hardest working man I ever saw in order to get the qualification. His sense of humour was admired by all who knew him and his sense of duty to the guns and the men who worked with him and under him beyond reproach. He was a soldier's soldier and a great man. I am honoured to have known him and to call him a friend. Stand easy old friend. End of mission.

Condolence: I would like to pass on my sincere condolences to the family of Vic White. After hearing the sad news I sat reading some of the things my fellow soldiers had posted and remembered all the young soldiers who came through the lines with Victor as the BSM and RSM. His magnetic personality and leadership captured us all and we followed willingly shaping so many young men for the future. Wherever soldiers gather stories will be told. Well done. Rest in peace. Condolence From: Andrew Chaplin
Condolence: Vic White was the last BSM who ever called me to attention as a Gunner, and the first with whom I ever worked as a commissioned officer. To describe him as a "character" would not do him justice, he was that cubed and squared again. Men followed him naturally, and those over whom he had no command followed him out of curiosity, he was just that fascinating. I loved the man and am grateful for what I learned from him. Other Gunners may close with "UBIQUE," but I will close with "UNIQUE," for that was what he was.
