Obituary for Richard "Dick" Alexander Pollock

Richard "Dick" Pollock passed away at home on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the age of 82 years. Dick was born to Fin and May Pollock on April 5, 1936. He attended school in Forrest. Dick and Carol Loney were married on October 20, 1956 and lived in Brandon for the first few years while Dick worked several jobs. Later they moved to Kemnay Village and then north of Kemnay until 1965 when they moved the Cassan house onto the basement they had built themselves on the family farm @ SE 30-10-20. Dick worked at the Research Station until an accident in 1986 forced his retirement. He filled his days with gun shows and time at the Brandon Gun Club and some travelling. Dick loved collecting and restoring guns and hunting, fishing and clay shooting. He spent hours telling stories of his hunting and fishing and his favorite audience were the other "old timers" that would gather at Joe Brook Sporting Goods Store to swap stories. Dick is survived by his wife Carol, two children: Mike (Nadine) and their children, Katie and Clayton, Peggy and her daughter Carol-lynn. Dick was the oldest of six siblings: Alberta (Ed) Neufeld, Bill (Donna), Bob (Margaret), Larry (Pat) and Lance (Shelby). A Graveside Service was held at Alexander Cemetery, Alexander, Manitoba on Thursday, July 12, 2018. A reception followed at the family home, Kirkpatrick Road #119, Lane #58012. Donations in memory of Dick may be made to the Brandon Gun Club, c/o Rob Lamont, 2030 Park Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B 0R9.
