Obituary for Dorothy Esther Beswitherick

Dorothy Esther Beswitherick
On May 1, 2018 Dorothy Esther Beswitherick (Kneeshaw) of Brandon MB, passed peacefully from this life to her eternal home at the age of 97 years. Dorothy was born April 2, 1921 at Brookdale, MB, the third child of Alfred and Edith Kneeshaw. A few months later the family moved to Carberry where she received her schooling. Dorothy graduated from Brandon Normal School in 1941 and taught at Medora and Wellwood Schools. On July 12, 1946 Dorothy married Rev. Frank Beswitherick who had recently returned from overseas in WWII. Together they raised their three sons; Grant, Lyle and Dale, pastored churches in Morden and Swan River and resided in Brandon. Dorothy advanced her music at Brandon University while the family was growing up and taught piano and theory for 18 years in her home. Later, Frank and Dorothy pastored churches in Killarney, Elphinstone and MacGregor Manitoba. As a young teen, Dorothy made a lasting commitment to Jesus as Lord and Saviour which was her joy and guiding force of life. She developed her artistic talents and enjoyed painting, crafting, knitting, sewing, gardening, baking and hosting guests in her home as well as entertaining seniors at the piano in Personal Care Homes. But her greatest joy was her family and beloved husband. Dorothy is survived by her 3 sons; Grant (Janyce), Lyle (Beverley), Dale (Marg), 6 grandsons: David (Renee), Cameron (Kelly), Shawn (Hendriette), Nathan (Martha), Todd (Michelle), Scott (Faith; fiancée), one granddaughter Christilee and 11 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her dear husband Frank (2004), her parents, brothers Howard, Allan, Gerry and sister Ruth (Orange). The Celebration of Dorothy's Life took place at Bethel Christian Assembly on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Pastor Mike Davis officiated. Interment was at the Sidney Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International, 501 Imperial Road North, Guelph, ON N1H 6T9.
