Obituary for Nadège Elaine Krause

Nadège Elaine Krause
It is with great sadness the family of Nadege Eliane “Elaine” Krause announce her passing on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the age of 81 years, surrounded by her loving husband Danny and her children. Elaine was born in the little village of Vignolles, in the Poitou – Charente region of France, on Monday, March 23, 1936. Elaine was one of seven children born to Jean and Olive Ricoine. As a young woman she came to Canada joining her two brothers; she was especially close to her brother Pierre, settling in Brandon, MB. Elaine worked in Housekeeping, eventually marrying and had four children. In 1981, she married Dan Krause and they moved to Gravelbourg, SK where Elaine worked in Homecare. Dan and Elaine also lived in Alexander, MB for several years, later returning to set up house and retire in Brandon, along with their dog Daisy. Elaine still kept her French accent, much to the delight of those who knew her and enjoyed visits back home to France, remaining close to her sisters and other family members. On one such visit, Elaine walked with one of her daughters along old dirt paths in the almost deserted village of Vignolles recounting childhood memories. On that quiet sunny day, they joined with worshippers from the surrounding countryside in the village Church that she attended growing up. Over the years, Elaine shared stories with her children of the good times she had growing up with her siblings; including how they would bike the few miles to Angueleme for a weekly dance. Elaine loved to dance and was host to many family get-togethers over the years, with her favourite time being Christmas. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking bread and doing beautiful needlepoint projects. Many of these depicting Europe and the ballroom scenes she loved so much. Elaine also took pleasure in fresh seafood, especially oysters, and liked travelling and shopping. Camping trips in the summer months were enjoyed with Danny visiting family & friends. Whether shopping on Champs Elysses with her sister Micheline, or the little shops at Clear Lake with a friend, she always found something she liked, along with a gift for someone else. A day was often planned to shop and have lunch with her daughters. Elaine's love of gardening and her keen sense of decorating style brought vibrant color and warmth to both her home and garden. She loved gardening, especially her roses & lilies. Throughout her life Elaine kept her faith in her Lord and Saviour; she taught prayer and thanksgiving to her young children and they attended St. Augustine’s Church as a family. She was a well-organized woman with a strong work ethic and instilled these qualities in her children as well. Her laughter, her warmth and giving nature, her strength and love will always be remembered. Elaine leaves to mourn her husband Daniel; daughter Alice (Ken) Bullion, granddaughter Jan (Kris), great-grandsons Austin and Ethan; daughter Janette (Larry) Phinney, grandsons Scott and Mark (Christin), great-grandsons Josh and Alex, step-granddaughter Ange, great-grandchildren Cole and Asha; son Henry (Donna) Chacun, granddaughter Nadège, great-grandchildren Neveah and Roman, granddaughter Jolene; daughter Angel (Reg) Campbell, granddaughter Vicky (Sean), great-grandchildren André, twins Angèle and Danielle, grandson Cody (Leanne), great-grandchildren Zander, Ezmay and Crozby; sisters Micheline, Marie (André) and brother Pierre (Marg); sister-in law Elaine (Fred) & good friends, Maggie, Kay, Liza and Lucille. Elaine will be forever remembered by her many friends and relatives, both in Canada and France. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Muriel and Jeannine, brother Marcel. The Funeral Service took place at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 with Rev. Fr. Michael Raj Savarimuthu officiating. A reception followed at Memories Chapel. Elaine was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Hamiota Cemetery. Donations in memory of Elaine may be made to the Arthritis Society, 100A-1465 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 1L8.

Don’t weep at my grave for I am not there.
I’ve a date with a butterfly to dance in the air.
I’ll be singing in the sunshine, wild and free.
Playing tag with the wind.
While I’m waiting for thee.
