Born March 12, 1950 in Owen Sound, Ontario, the Irvine family moved to Rivers where James graduated from Rivers Collegiate. His best friends and mentors, Ken Kingdom and John Jordens hired him at age of 14 years to work at Brickwood Plumbing and Heating, Rivers. Pursuing a license in sheet metal, James moved to Edmonton in 1970 to attend NAIT. James returned to Rivers, and shortly after achieved his plumbing license from Red River Community College in Winnipeg. He worked at OO-ZA-WE-KWUN training centre until August 11, 1983 when he was hired by CFB Shilo, retiring in 2011. In his spare time, James enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing and curling. Remaining to cherish James' memory are his wife Dora, sons Jamie (Sherri) of Edmonton, John (Lucy) of Niagara Falls, their families; loving sister-in-law Mary (George); siblings Bruce (Bonnie), Rose (Dan), Bernice, Linda (John), Blanche (Mervyn) and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Stewart and Margaret; brothers Alan and Robert; sister Betty; in-laws Jack and Octovie Gudbranson as well as pals Terry Herndon and Maurice Dickson. Family and friends were invited to a time of visitation at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Ceremony to Celebrate James' Life took place at the Rivers Royal Canadian Legion on Thursday, January 28, 2016 with Rev.
