Obituary for Demetro "Matt" Osudar

Demetro "Matt"  Osudar
OSUDAR: On Monday, October 6, 2014 Demetro "Matt" Osudar, age 87, passed away peacefully with family by his side, into the presence of the Lord, at the Assiniboine Centre. Matt was born December 25, 1926 in Ostrynia, Ukraine. In 1955, he married Lois (nee Scharff) of Holland, Manitoba and started their lives together in Brandon. In 1957, their first son Richard Murray was born. In 1959 was the arrival of their second son Randall Demetro. Their family was completed when daughter Debra Cecile Marie was born in 1961. Matt worked in the automotive industry as a lube technician and retired from Brandon Chrysler Dodge in 1985. He was a past member of the Foresters and the United Commercial Travelers. Matt was a volunteer at the East End Community Centre, where he introduced the jam pail curling. He enjoyed many winters and countless hours teaching the kids the game of curling. He enjoyed curling, fishing, playing cards and cribbage. He loved spending the summers at the family cottage at Clear Lake. Matt always looked forward to the annual salmon fishing at the west coast. He had a love for animals, his pug Sadie and Matt had a very special bond with each other. Matt was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Matt is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Lois of Brandon, his son Richard (Loree) of Birtle, grandchildren Amber and Wade, son Randall (Melody) of Brandon, grandchildren Ryan, Brayden (Nicole), Courtney, daughter Debra of Medicine Hat, AB, grandchildren Shealyn, Dehllon; great-grandchildren Liam and Rogin. His very devoted sister Mary Dickie of Brandon, sister Kay Wolsky of Kelowna, BC, brother Bill Osudar of Brandon and many nieces and nephews. Matt was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Nelly and by brothers John and Steve. He will be missed dearly by those whose lives he touched. The family would like to extend a big thank you to the nurses and staff on A2 and A3 for their amazing care and kindness. The Ceremony to Celebrate Matt's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, October 11, 2014 with Roy and Jean Walwyn officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Matt may be made to the Salvation Army, Christmas Cheer Fund, 9 Princess Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 1R8.
